Mateja Kezman has signed on the dotted line for Chelsea, he has told a Dutch newspaper.
The Serbo-Montenegrin striker’s transfer will not be complete until he is granted a work permit, but he claims to have tied up all negotiations during a flying visit to London on Monday.
“I have signed,” the Serbo-Montenegrin told NOS Sportjournaal. "Chelsea now have to take care of a work permit for me. I will be officially presented no sooner than Saturday, Sunday or Monday.”
The Stamford Bridge club agreed a fee with PSV Eindhoven for the prolific marksman last week, and they will expect the work permit to be a formality given Kezman’s status as a regular international.
The 25-year-old is aware he will face tough competition for his place in coach Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up at Stamford Bridge, but he is not deterred by the challenge.
“I know what coach Mourinho wants. I have spoken with him a few times and I know what my position at Chelsea will be,” said Kezman. “The situation at Chelsea is really fantastic.”
The former FK Loznica, Sartid 1913 Smederevo and Partizan Belgrade forward scored 105 goals in 122 games over four seasons at PSV.
