Birmingham Children's Hospital has admitted giving organs from living children to a drugs company for money.

Birmingham Children's Hospital has admitted giving organs from living children to a drugs company for money.

The hospital said it received cash from research firm Aventis after handing over thymus glands taken in heart operations in the early 1990s.

Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool has admitted giving organs from living children to the company in return for a donation to its cardiac department.

Investigations have been launched at both hospitals into the removal of dead babies' organs.
