Jennifer Connelly is in talks to star in 'Noah'.

The 41-year-old actress is being lined up for the role of Noah's wife in Darren Aronofsky's biblical tale alongside Russell Crowe, Emma Watson and Ray Winstone.

'Black Swan' director Darren - who previously worked with Jennifer on 'Requiem For Dream' - is known for his dark vision and his take on the well-known story has been described as a "fantasy epic", with Russell Crowe's Noah set to be played as an embittered nature lover disillusioned with humanity.

The tale sees Noah given a mission by God to build an ark to save the world from a forthcoming flood.

Ray Winstone is reportedly set to play Noah's arch enemy and Emma Watson will star as one of Noah's sons' love interests, with Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth also lined up for the project.

Russell - who starred alongside Jennifer in 2001 movie 'A Beautiful Mind' - was confirmed for the titular role in the 'Noah' in March.

Darren said in a statement at the time: "I'd like to thank Paramount and Regency for backing my team's work to breathe new life into the biblical epic.

"I rejoice that Russell Crowe will be by my side on this adventure. It's his immense talent that helps me to sleep at night. I look forward to being wowed by him every day."

Filming is scheduled to begin in August in New York and Iceland.

'Noah' is set for release in March 2014.
