The Irish Prison Service is rubbishing reports that inmates in Mountjoy are planning a revolt.

Reports this morning claim prisoners are stock-piling weapons and planning to riot if new security measures are introduce to crackdown on the smuggling of drugs into the jail.

Many inmates have also reportedly been released or transferred to other facilities because of the threat of violence.

However, the Prison Service says this is not true and this morning's reports are "without foundation".
