Rudolph Giuliani is being honoured in Ireland as he prepares to step down as Mayor of New York.

Rudolph Giuliani is being honoured in Ireland as he prepares to step down as Mayor of New York.

He has been named as the recipient of this year’s Tipperary International Peace award.

Giuliani, who steps down as Mayor at midnight tonight, is being awarded for his bravery, courage and leadership in the aftermath of the terrorists attacks on his city.

Tipperary Peace Convention spokesperson, Martin Quinn, is hopeful Giuliani will travel to Tipperary to accept his award and he has already received an invite.

Previous winners of the award include Senator George Mitchell, Bill Clinton and Senator Gordon Wilson.
