White praises Banking Inquiry

The Communications Minister Alex White has said he thinks that the Banking Inquiry has worked well.

That is despite sources this morning saying that there is still only a 50/50 chance that there will be a final report from the inquiry.

Alex White said that he hopes that there will be a final report that will be “digestible” for the public to read.

He believes that the inquiry has worked well despite its limitations.

“I actually think despite all the criticism of it, I think it has actually worked well within the very real limits that it had,” said White.

“The report needs to be digestible, it needs to be accessible and needs to be easily understood. I think the committee members will work to do that.

“I think they should try to maintain as best they can a cross-party approach to this (and) bookend this episode in the next few weeks.”
