Four gardaí have been suspended from duty following an allegation of assault made by a man living in the south inner city area of Dublin.

Four gardaí have been suspended from duty following an allegation of assault made by a man living in the south inner city area of Dublin.

The four gardaí are based at Kevin Street and Kilmainham garda stations.

The complaint made to the Garda Ombudsman Commission relates to an incident that alledgely occurred in the last week.

The Garda Commissioner confirmed this evening that he has suspended the officers of Garda rank while the allegation is being investigated by the Garda Ombudsman Commission.

A spokesperson for the Commission told breakingnews.ie this evening, that the investigation is at 'a very early stage'.
