Blur top the bill at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival on Sunday and insist they are an appropriate choice to end this year's proceedings.

Frontman Damon Albarn said: "Were we surprised to be asked to do Glastonbury? I think it's only right that we play it. It's a great honour to play Glastonbury and we're going to rise to the occasion hopefully.

"Everyone is tired on Sunday night so it needs something special, we'll try to give them that."

The band - who last played the Somerset festival in 1998 - are planning to stay at the event all weekend as Damon is involved in the Africa Exprez event the evening before Blur play and guitarist Graham Coxon wants to watch Bruce Springsteen.

The musician told NME.com: "It's a well good weekend, so to finish it off is ace. We'll bring it back down to England with a bump after Neil Young and The Boss."
