Two men held in Dublin cigarette theft

Gardai in Co Meath are questioning two Dubliners in their 40s in connection with the theft of €4m worth of cigarettes from Dublin Port yesterday.

Gardai in Co Meath are questioning two Dubliners in their 40s in connection with the theft of €4m worth of cigarettes from Dublin Port yesterday.

The Marlboro Lights cigarettes were inside two 40ft containers which were taken from the port between 7am and 8am yesterday.

One of the containers was subsequently stopped on the main Ashbourne to Duleek road and the two suspects were arrested.

Half of the stolen cigarettes were also recovered, but the second half of the consignment has not been found.
