Power cuts across midlands and west after storms

Up to ten thousand ESB customers across the country have experienced power cuts this evening after widespread thunderstorms.

Up to ten thousand ESB customers across the country have experienced power cuts this evening after widespread thunderstorms.

The worst affected areas are parts of the midlands, west and north-west, although the ESB have said other places may also have been hit.

Emergency crews have begun work to restore power to consumers and the company stated that it hoped to be in a position to provide energy to all customers by late this evening.
