Govt may reform PRSI system in next Budget

It has emerged that major reform to the PRSI system could be on the cards in the next Budget.

It has emerged that major reform to the PRSI system could be on the cards in the next Budget.

Proposed changes could see employees have to make contributions on unearned income like investments and share options.

It is part of a new "universal social contribution" that could replace PRSI, the health and income levys in Budget 2011.

The details are contained in documents from the Department of Social Protection, released under the Freedom of Information Act.
