Britney agrees child custody settlement

Troubled pop star Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalised their child-custody settlement, including a US$5,000 (€3,186)-a-month increase in child support for her ex-husband.

Troubled pop star Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalised their child-custody settlement, including a US$5,000 (€3,186)-a-month increase in child support for her ex-husband.

A lawyer for Mr Federline delivered the terms of two separate agreements to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who gave his approval late last night.

According to the agreement dealing with finances, Spears' payments to Mr Federline go from $15,000 (€9,559) to $20,000 (€12,742) a month, backdated to July 15.

Spears will also pay Mr Federline's lawyers, Mark Kaplan and James Simon, a single payment of $250,000 (€159,320).

Last week, the parties said they had also come to terms on custody issues, granting the 26-year-old pop singer more time with her two children, including additional overnight visits. The exact terms of that agreement were sealed by the court.

Spears' father, James, currently controls his daughter's financial and personal affairs as a court-appointed conservator. He signed off on the agreement on Spears' behalf.

A hearing on the conservatorship will be held on Thursday.
