Eriksson waits on Beckham assessment

Sven-Goran Eriksson will reassess David Beckham’s fitness before making a final decision on his line-up for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier in Poland.

Sven-Goran Eriksson will reassess David Beckham’s fitness before making a final decision on his line-up for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier in Poland.

Beckham was back in training this afternoon despite having sustained a painful rib injury during last Saturday’s 2-2 draw in Austria.

As long as his captain’s condition does not worsen, Eriksson was not expected to make any changes to his line-up, with David James set to keep his place despite his high-profile mistake in Vienna.

Probable line-up: James, G Neville, A Cole, King, Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Bridge, Owen, Smith.
