A review by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is reportedly set to highlight an impending “funding crisis” at Irish colleges.
Reports this morning said the OECD’s upcoming report on the Irish third-level sector would warn of a funding crisis unless new sources of revenue were found.
The body will reportedly recommend that colleges and universities develop closer links with business and industry as a means of securing this funding.
It may also recommend the reintroduction of third-level fees. Both moves would be likely to attract opposition from academics and students.
