Two youths arrested over a seizure of cannabis worth €40,000 in Finglas, in Dublin, earlier this week were remanded in custody with consent to bail today.

The boys, who are both aged 17, were charged with possessing the drugs for sale or supply at North Road, in Finglas, on Monday, January 12 last, the Children’s Court heard.

The teenagers, who were accompanied to court by family members, had never been in trouble before, Judge Aingeal Ní Chondúin heard.

Judge Ní Chondúin remanded the pair in custody with consent to bail with a €2,000 independent surety.

She also set down a number of strict conditions should the bail be taken up by the teens, who are from north Dublin, but cannot be identified because they are juveniles.

The conditions included a curfew compelling them to be in their homes, where they have been ordered to reside, from 9pm to 8am, and an order to sign on three times a week at their local Garda stations.

Both were also ordered not to have any contact with another family which the court heard that one of the defendants’ relatives was allegedly feuding with.

The court was also told that it was suspected that the pair had disposed of a firearm connected to the feud.

And they were also banned by the judge from associating with each other as another term of their bail bonds.

The boys, who are taking part in training courses, will appear again in the Children’s Court next week.
