Police in the North have arrested two people for public order offences following a disturbance in Belfast city centre last night.

Police in the North have arrested two people for public order offences following a disturbance in Belfast city centre last night.

Two PSNI officers were injured as they tried to make an arrest in the Castle Street area.

The police were surrounded by the crowd, which threw bottles and other missiles at the officers and their vehicle.

The trouble broke out as people were leaving the traditional switching on of the Christmas lights ceremony.
