British Prime Minister Tony Blair will not waver in his policy over Iraq despite suffering the biggest Commons rebellion of his leadership, Downing Street said today.
Members of the Cabinet who met this morning were “absolutely rock solid” in support of the British government's position.
Mr Blair’s official spokesman said the Prime Minister understood that MPs and the general public had anxieties about a possible war in Iraq.
But he said: “The Government’s policy remains as it is known to you.
"The Prime Minister believes with an absolute passion that the threat from weapons of mass destruction along with international terrorism is now the main challenge to the security of the world.”
