Prosecution evidence in the trial of two Limerick brothers charged with threatening to kill four members of the same family is due to begin this afternoon.

Wayne Dundon (aged 33) of Lenihan Avenue and 29-year-old John Dundon of Hyde Road in Limerick are being tried at the Special Criminal Court.

Wayne Dundon denies five counts of making threats to kill and two counts of obstructing the course of justice between 2010 and 2011.

The threats were allegedly made against April Collins, her brother Gareth, her mother Alice Collins and Jimmy Collins on two different dates at Hyde Road and Hyde Avenue in Limerick.

He also pleaded not guilty to intimidating the two women, who were potential prosecution witnesses.

His younger brother John Dundon is also charged with making threats to kill against April and Alice Collins in April 2011.

Their case opened briefly yesterday but was adjourned when Wayne Dundon's lawyers sought further disclosure in relation to an alleged threat by April Collins to “set-up” his client.

The Special Criminal Court agreed to order the release of up to 100 tapes of telephone conversations between April Collins and another man.
