Israel has reportedly fired missiles at the Palestinian security headquarters.

Four loud explosions went off in the large compound in the centre of Gaza City.

Three Israeli warplanes flew over Gaza during the attack but witnesses said at least one of the blasts was caused by a surface-to-surface missile.

At the time of the attack, streets were crowded with schoolchildren, and the attack sent them running in panic.

Electricity to downtown Gaza City has been cut.
