The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has described himself as an “optimist” because he expects to win the next General Election.
Kenny has said he also wants to serve the full term in office.
The current coalition has a remit to rule until next spring, but there has been speculation that the Dáil could be dissolved before then.
In a national radio interview this morning the Fine Gael leader would not reveal if he will apply for a job in Europe after retirement, but he did admit there have been financial catastrophes that this country is still working to overcome.
“I never anything but an optimist and I expect to when the next election,” said Kenny.
“When my remit in Government is over, I have lots of things I’d want to do if the Lord spares me.
“A lot of things I haven’t been able to do in so many years, but that’s a long way out front I hope.”
