Two elderly men have died after being hit by cars in two separate road accidents in Co Louth and Co Mayo.

Two elderly men have died after being hit by cars in two separate road accidents in Co Louth and Co Mayo.

A man in his seventies died at around 8am this morning after being hit by a car on Trinity Street in Drogheda.

The road has been sealed off while Gardai investigate the incident and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

In Co Mayo, meanwhile, an 80-year-old man died after being hit by a car on the N7 in Kilkelly at around 7.30pm last night.
