The Ombudsman is renewing her request that hospitals improve their facilities to allow dying patients and their families greater dignity and peace.

Emily O'Reilly's appeal follows an investigation into the care and treatment of a man and his family at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The 61-year-old man, who was admitted to the hospital to be treated for a stoke, suffered a bad fall from his hospital bed and died 52 hours later.
