Today is the last day for Aer Lingus staff who want to avail of a voluntary redundancy package.

The national airline is seeking 1,325 job cuts as part of a cost-cutting plan, as it moves towards being a low-cost carrier.

The redundancy package will cost Aer Lingus about €80m.

Although the number applying for redundancy has not been revealed, it is believed only about 900 will take up the offer. The deadline expires at 5pm today.
