The Irish Refugee Council is calling for an increase in the weekly allowance given to asylum seekers.

The Irish Refugee Council is calling for an increase in the weekly allowance given to asylum seekers.

The amount hasn't gone up from €19.10 since 2000 despite increases in other social welfare payments.

The Council say 'Its not fair'.

Deo Ladislas from the Irish Refugee Council explains that asylum seekers are provided food and shelter but they need an allowance to buy personal things.
