Barry Ferguson has rejoined Rangers from Blackburn on a five-and-a-half year contract.

The 26-year-old left Ibrox in August 2003 for Ewood Park but handed in a transfer request during the transfer window opening.

The Gers have paid a £4.5m (€6.4m) fee for the Scotland international, a figure will rise to £5m (€7.2m) dependent on appearances.

Documentation has been lodged with the Scottish Football Association registrations department.

Ferguson failed to settle in Lancashire but Rovers rejected three bids from Rangers for the player.

But a fee suitable to all parties was finally agreed today and Ferguson has now re-signed for his boyhood heroes.
