Coca-Cola strike action begins

Workers at Coca-Cola distribution centres around the country are mounting strike action this morning as part of a dispute over the planned outsourcing of their jobs.

Workers at Coca-Cola distribution centres around the country are mounting strike action this morning as part of a dispute over the planned outsourcing of their jobs.

Around 130 SIPTU members will picket the company's facilities in Dublin, Galway, Waterford, Tipperary and Cork.

The union says the outsourcing will inevitably lead to redundancies and major changes in work practices.

It has also accused the company of refusing to discuss alternative cost-cutting measures.
