Survey reveals how low Garda morale has slumped

A new survey has found that morale among gardaí is at its lowest in history.

The unpublished survey was released under Freedom of Information, and shows that gardaí are facing issues with training, rostering and a lack of resources.

The survey also indicates gardaí have concerns about their leadership, saying the higher ranks tend to ignore issues until they become serious problems.

It raised many issues among rank and file gardaí who complained that rural areas in particular are disadvantaged by a new roster system that had been introduced in 2012.
