Anthony McDermott will make his championship debut for Roscommon in Sunday's Connacht SFC semi-final against Sligo (Dr. Hyde Park, throw-in 3.30pm).

John Maughan has named the Kilbride clubman at full-back as the Rossies bid to reach the Connacht final for the first time since 2004.

McDermott is the only championship newcomer in a Roscommon side that includes forwards Gary Cox and Derek Connellan, who both missed last year's championship campaign.

Seamus O'Neill has gotten the nod to start in midfield after recovering from the ankle injury he sustained in the NFL Division Two semi-final win over Cavan in April.

Roscommon, whose last Connacht senior title win was back in 2001, have won their last two provincial championship meetings with Sligo, but required replays to do so on both occasions.

Maughan brought the Roscommon panel to the Algarve for a week-long training stint at the start of the month, and they will hope to bounce back this weekend from the disappointment of losing the Division Two final to Meath.

ROSCOMMON (SFC v Sligo) - G Claffey; S McDermott, A McDermott, P O'Connor; S Daly, D Casey, R Dooner; S O'Neill, M Finneran; J Tiernan, G Cox, C Cregg; D Connellan, K Mannion, G Heneghan.
