Dubai Destination will miss his intended engagement in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The Godolphin colt was the last horse to beat dual Guineas hero Rock Of Gibraltar when producing a tremendous turn of foot to land last year’s Rothman’s Royals Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
However, he has only been on the racetrack once since, when second to Coshocton in the Letheby & Christopher Predominate Stakes at Goodwood last month.
He was taken out of the Vodafone Derby at the 48-hour stage and connections had been planning to drop him back in trip for next Tuesday’s Group One feature over a mile.
But a statement on the official Godolphin website revealed the Kingmambo colt has sustained an injury to his near-fore and plans are on hold at present.
‘‘It is a great shame he will have to miss the Royal meeting but hopefully he will be back in action later in the season,’’ said racing manager Simon Crisford.
