Journalist Grania Willis has become the first Irish woman to scale the north face of Mount Everest.

Journalist Grania Willis has become the first Irish woman to scale the north face of Mount Everest.

She reached the summit at 3.45am today, and returned to Base Camp Four, where she's reported to be in high spirits at her achievement.

The proceeds of her expedition will go to the Friends of St Luke's Hospital and the Irish Hospice Foundation.
