Irish tourists are the second worst in the world, according to a survey conducted in 17 popular tourist destinations.

The Expedia survey found that British tourists were most disliked in the places they visit, with Ireland and Israel tied for second.

The research, conducted in cities throughout the world, said the Irish were particularly noted for their bad behaviour, but the British were criticised for being the rudest, meanest and worst behaved of all tourists.

German, American and Japanese holidaymakers were found to be most liked.
