Officials at Haydock have delayed an inspection until 10am ahead of this afternoon’s National Hunt fixture.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright initially called an early-morning check for 8am and although he has decided to put the inspection on hold for a couple of hours, he is hopeful the meeting will go ahead.

Tellwright said: “We’re going to have a look at 10am, but I’m quietly optimistic.

“We had half an inch of slush on the track this morning at 7am, but temperatures are up to 3C now and could rise to 5C later in the day.”
