Vicious attack on man found at burning car

A man critically injured in a vicious assault was found lying beside a burning car in South Armagh today.

A man critically injured in a vicious assault was found lying beside a burning car in South Armagh today.

Police said members of the Fire Service called to deal with the blazing vehicle found the man outside the village of Cullyhanna.

The 45-year-old had multiple injuries to his face and body, including two broken legs and broken arms.

He appeared to have been beaten with clubs over the whole length of his body and to have suffered puncture wounds, said a police spokesman.

A motive for the attack has not yet been established.
