Fine Gael has called on the Government to postpone its decentralisation plan until the Dáil can debate its merits.

Fine Gael has called on the Government to postpone its decentralisation plan until the Dáil can debate its merits.

The party said it feared the proposal to move 10,000 civil servants from Dublin to more than 50 locations throughout the country would lead to a decline in the level of service provided by Government departments.

Spokesman Richard Bruton said not enough research had been done to prove the plan could work.
