Harney refuses to comment on latest PD reports

Mary Harney has refused to be drawn on whether or not she would resign from the PDs if members decided to keep the party going.

Earlier this year, the party's four TDs and Senators recommended that the PDs be wound up following their disastrous performance at the last election.

There has been speculation that many members may vote to keep the PDs going when a special conference is held next weekend to decide on the recommendation.

Reports yesterday suggested Ms Harney would quit the party if this came to pass, but she refused to confirm or deny the reports when questioned by journalists today.

She said it would be inappropriate to comment before next weekend's meeting.
