Veteran actress Meryl Streep has lashed out at "sexist" Hollywood culture, accusing it of deliberately demonising older women.
The acclaimed Adaptation star's latest role sees her playing a tyrannical magazine editor in THE Devil Wears Prada - another unpopular character.
And 57-year-old Streep insists she will abandon her acting career if there are no positive roles for women her age forthcoming.
Streep says, "These are roles they write for women my age. So maybe there's something in society that sees older women this way. Usually, we're gorgons or dragons, in some way grotesque.
"What films have you seen lately with serious roles for 50-year-old women in the lead?"
