Bramhill on the sidelines

John Bramhill has been stood down for six days after being knocked out in a fall at Southwell.

John Bramhill has been stood down for six days after being knocked out in a fall at Southwell.

The freelance jockey was unseated on his way to post for the opening Bet Direct Maiden Stakes on Thursday by outsider Sweet Aroma.

He was attended to on the track by the racecourse doctor before being taken to the racecourse medical room and later to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for observation. He was allowed home last night.

“The only damage to his back is bruising near the bottom. He’s obviously got a headache and has been signed off for a precautionary six days, but is back home,” Bramhill‘s agent Richard Hunter said.

“He should be back riding a week on Saturday at Wolverhampton as there is no Flat racing towards the end of next week anyway.”
