A row which erupted between Welsh singer Charlotte Church and her ex-boyfriend in the early hours of yesterday morning was only defused when police stepped in.

The Voice of an Angel beauty become embroiled in a shouting match with former love Kyle Johnson outside her Cardiff, Wales apartment which was sparked by a run-in at a bar earlier that night.

Church, who is now dating Welsh rugby hunk Gavin Henson, was celebrating a friend's birthday when she became involved in a war of words with Johnson and his pals, so her party moved onto another drinking establishment.

But when she returned home, Johnson was waiting outside to continue their argument - and Church quickly slammed him for selling their sex secrets to a British newspaper following their split in January.

An onlooker tells British newspaper The Sun: "She was saying, 'You've had your money - you slagged me off.' She'd had a bit to drink and was very angry and there was a lot of swearing.

"Things were very heated. There was a bit of pushing and shoving, but no real violence."

Attending officers ordered Church, 19, and 20-year-old Johnson to calm down but made no arrests.

Church punched Johnson following a similar meeting in a Cardiff restaurant in February - shortly after Johnson sold his story to the

press.
