The French President and the German Chancellor have held talks with the new Greek Prime Minister.

It is understood the three leaders spoke by phone this afternoon, after Lucas Papademos was sworn in earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, there are renewed fears that the eurozone debt crisis could spread to France.

Leading economists are warning that the €300bn worth of Italian debt that French banks hold leaves them dangerously exposed.

There are also fresh concerns about Spain after its economy, the eurozone's fourth largest, stopped growing in the third quarter, putting its deficit-reduction goals in doubt.
