Galway 2-19, Limerick 2-12 (full-time)

High-flying Limerick hurlers were brought back to earth with a bang by National League specialists Galway in a Division 1A clash which only occasionally caught fire at Ballinasloe.

The Shannonsiders had no answer to Galway forwards Ollie Fahy and man of the match Alan Kerins who scored 1-08 from play between them.

Thanks to goals however from James Butler and Barry Foley Limerick only trailed by 0-11 to 2-04 at the interval but some dreadful free-taking repeatedly undermined a typical battling display.

Still, with Barry Foley sending over a hat-trick of points Limerick were still in contention until David Tierney drove home a wonder individual goal 11 mins from the end.
