GRA: Gardaí have no confidence in Justice Minister Shatter

The Garda Representative Association has said it has no confidence in the Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

The executive council of the union met today and said it now wanted the Garda Commissioner to state to the force whether he believed any reduction in garda pay would have a negative effect on policing.

The GRA said it was convinced Martin Callinan was unaware of the impact of pay cuts and lack of resources on his workforce.

Garda representatives are now seeking an urgent meeting with the Commissioner so he can hear first-hand accounts from its members.
