The Army bomb squad has made safe a viable explosive device in a residential area in Ballybrit in Galway.

Homes evacuated as Army disposes of bomb in Galway

The Army bomb squad has made safe a viable explosive device in a residential area in Ballybrit in Galway.

The suspect device was found by a resident near Ballybrit Industrial Estate at around 11pm last night.

A number of homes were evacuated and the device was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.

The scene was declared safe at around 2.30am.
