Three men have today appeared at Dublin District Court charged in connection with an attempted robbery on Thursday in the city.
All three, who are from Dublin, were remanded in custody.
At Dublin District Court today, 22-year-old Alex Irwin from Allerton, Ballycragh in Tallaght and 30 -year-old Wayne Ellis from Landon Road in Ballyfermot were remanded in custody with consent of bail.
The driver of the car, 25-year-old Paul Walsh, also from Allerton, Ballycragh in Tallaght, was refused bail and remanded in custody until the July 13.
All three have been charged under section 22 of the Firearms Act.
The men were arrested when the car they were travelling in was stopped by gardaí at Knocklyon shopping centre in Dublin.
Members of the organised crime unit found a stolen sawn-off double-barrelled shotgun, a sledge hammer and a Lucozade bottle full of petrol.
Gardaí believe the men may have been intending to rob a cash-in-transit van parked in the shopping centre car park, near the post office.
Both of the accused, who were passengers in the car, are to observed a curfew from 10pm-8am and to sign on daily at Rathfarnham and Ballyfermot garda stations respectively.
