Rn'B star Alicia Keys turns to her love for music whenever she feels depressed - and credits her new album with saving her life.

The singer has not released a new studio album in four years, but is finally preparing to drop her new album 'As I Am' after a "roller-coaster year", which has seen the 27-year-old venture into Hollywood with a role in movie 'Smokin' Aces'.

"I needed this music more than it needed me," she said. "This year's been a roller-coaster, but as down as I've been, I've learned so much.

"I found beauty during the dark times."
