A 31-year-old man has died after his car hit a tree in Co Galway.

A 31-year-old man has died after his car hit a tree in Co Galway.

It happened shortly after 10.30pm yesterday at Colemanstown near Ballinasloe.

His body has been removed to Portiuncula Hospital for a post mortem.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are asking any witnesses to the collision to contact them in Ballinasloe.
