David Blood has been elected President of the Football Association of Ireland at a special council meeting following the organisation's AGM yesterday.

He will succeed Milo Corcoran in the position.

Maurice Fleming was elected Vice President, and Eddie Murray has been elected Honorary Treasurer.

The FAI reported a surplus of €2.8m for the year ended December 31 2004, including a once-off exceptional gain of €1.4m on the sale of its facility in Bishopstown.
