Six people have been taken to hospital following an explosion at a factory in Co Louth this morning.

Six people have been taken to hospital following an explosion at a factory in Co Louth this morning.

It happened at the Crumrubber factory, near Dromiskin at around 9.30am.

It is understood a fire had broken out at the factory and the explosion occurred as fire fighters tried to bring the blaze under control.

The casualties have been taken to the Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí, ambulance and fire services are at the scene.
