A report on the state of Ireland's infrastructure will be published later by Engineers Ireland.
It looks at five key areas - Water, Energy, Communications, Waste and Transport - and assesses what progress Ireland has made.
The report is expected to show that just one area - Communications, such as broadband - has improved over the past year, while the other four remain at the same level since the last report was taken.
The study was is being launched today at the start of Engineers Week and Director General of Engineers Ireland John Power has said it is vital the country continues to improve its infrastructure in order to attract more international companies.
