Former GAA president Dr Mick Loftus has emerged as a leader in the campaign to ban alcohol companies from sponsoring football and hurling championships.
Loftus also revealed he has not attended any of the All-Ireland hurling finals since Guinness took up their sponsorship of the competition.
Loftus said: "My views are well known. It's sad what alcohol abuse is doing to families and the pressure on young people to drink."
Guinness spokesman Pat Barry responded: "Everything we do, we do in a responsible fashion, there is a huge emphasis on social responsibility."
