Unlucky Nyrche could head to Sandown

Nyrche could make a quick reappearance at Sandown next week as he tries to atone for an unfortunate defeat at Aintree last weekend.

Alan King’s five-year-old looked certain to play a part in the finish of the Intersky Novices’ Chase as he came to the penultimate fence two lengths in front and still travelling well.

However, jockey Wayne Hutchinson took the wrong course by mistake and Nyrche lost his chance of a second win on the bounce.

King is now looking for some quick compensation and is considering a crack at the Sodexho Prestige Henry VIII Chase on Saturday week.

“Nyrche has come out of Sunday’s race well and what’s done is done and I don’t want to talk about it any more,” said the Barbury Castle handler.

“We may look to make amends in the Henry VIII Chase next week.”

King also issued an upbeat bulletin on promising hurdler Senorita Rumbalita.

Her chances of a debut win over hurdles at Wincanton last week were scuppered by a slipped saddle but she is none the worse for the experience.

“Senorita Rumbalita was entered at Lingfield tomorrow but we will wait until another week with her,” King added.

“She will school on Thursday and we will look for something next week, but she’s fine.”
